3625R14 Ray, Extension/Cable Track 14-In. longThe 3625R14(Ray) is the universal do-it-all component of the RDDJ system.  The Rays may be used as sunrays from the 0525F10000(Frame such as the 4 & 6RDDJ22) or in series with other Rays to reach distant areas of the roof.  The Rays may also be used in series plus parallel to form a grid to melt great field areas of the roof for snow load reduction.  The SR-Trace cable itself is the backbone of the system for all but the 0525F10000 Frame configurations.

3625R14 with SR-Trace installedThe 3625R14 is shown here with the SR-Trace cable installed.  The cable has been easily pressed into the two cable tracks on the underside of Ray.  The cable is making a U-turn to begin another loop.

Grid made up of 3625R14s in series/paralell configurationThis photo is of a gridwork created by the placing of the 3625R14 Rays in both a series and parallel pattern interlaced by the SR-Trace cable.  Difficult to see here but the cable traces through the left track of the first Ray and then traces through the right track of the second Ray.  In this manner the cable spacing will forever be true to the original installation.  This photo also shows a sheet of expanded metal riveted to the top of the Rays to complement the snow melting process in heavy snow regions.  For clarification this test was done on a pitched roof which provided good drainage and photo op's but did not diminish, nor enhance, the snow melting capabilities of the system.

This photo has many points of interest:This photo has many points of interest:

  • Overall snow elimination effectiveness
  • Grid build of 3625R14 Rays, EASY HEAT SR-Trace cable, expanded metal and rivets
  • Appendage of five (3 shown) Rays and EASY HEAT SR-Trace extending up roof valley
  • Well established water drainage tunnel up the roof valley
  • Ice thickness at roof surface minimal at about 1-inch
  • Somewhat humorously, the grid is held in place with 1/4" rope to avoid roof penetrating anchors
