RDDS has created several drain jigs that are the ideal solution for keeping drains free of snow and ice by channeling water to and through the drain. The jigs are easily adaptable to the most common roof drains and roof contours. These jigs operate utilizing low wattage self regulating heat trace cable as the heat source.
Fully automatic, the system is actuated by the solid stateEasy Heat GC-1 controller. The controller requires the detection of freezing temperatures and the presence of moisture to energize the de-icing system. The system is then energized during snow fall and remains on for a 3-hour period after the sensor is dry. The GC-1 automatically recognizes the supplied line voltage (120V, 208V, 240V, 277V.)

This 6RDDJ22 Cable Jig is being installed on a roof where the roof drain has frozen. Notice the amount of ice frozen to the drain dome. The rays of the jig have been shaped to fit the contours of the roof.
Cable looped through collar and inserted into existing roof drain.
This photo illustrates how the Jigs are assembled in the drain. Notice that the SR-Trace Cable is installed directly into the drain.
This photo shows the SR-Trace Cable being installed into this 6RDDJ22 unit. This work would be done on the roof of the job site rather than a shop bench.
